Massage in Málaga city centre: relaxing and deep tissue
At Narumi, a beauty and wellbeing centre in Málaga city centre, Marta Fernández offers 30- or 60-minute wellbeing massages, either relaxing or deep tissue. The relaxing massage uses slow, flowing strokes to help you switch off; the deep tissue massage applies firmer pressure to tight areas such as the neck, shoulders and back. These are wellbeing massages, not physiotherapy. They take place in a room with a Japanese mural and can be combined with Kobido or pressotherapy.
- Duration
- 30 or 60 minutes
- Sessions
- One-off session, whenever you need it
- How often
- As you like; some clients come weekly, others once a month
- How it feels
- Relaxing: gentle and flowing. Deep tissue: firm pressure, adjusted to you
What you can (and can't) expect
What it helps with
- That tight feeling in the neck, shoulders and back
- Switching off and resting your mind
- General wellbeing after weeks of stress or heavy workloads
- Making the time you set aside for yourself really count
What it doesn't do
- It doesn't resolve injuries, persistent knots or pain with a medical cause
- It doesn't replace physiotherapy or medical treatment
- It doesn't help you lose weight or reduce volume
Is it right for you?
Ideal for
- Anyone who spends long hours at a computer and carries tension in their back
- Anyone who needs an hour of quiet and switching off
- Anyone looking for a wellbeing gift in Málaga
- Visitors who want a calm break in the middle of the city
When we don't carry it out
- Fever, infection or feeling generally unwell
- Recent injuries, sprains, fractures or undiagnosed acute pain
- Thrombosis or significant circulatory problems
- Wounds, burns or skin problems in the area
- Pregnancy, unless your doctor has approved it and after an initial chat with us
- Persistent or radiating pain: see a physiotherapist or doctor first
If you're unsure about your own situation, check with your doctor first. We'll go through it with you at your initial consultation.
Your session, step by step
-
What you need today
Before we begin, we have a quick chat: whether you want to relax or release tension, which areas feel tight and whether there's anything we should avoid.
-
Getting settled
You make yourself comfortable on the couch in the room with the Japanese mural, with soft lighting and a pleasant temperature.
-
Your massage
We use massage oil or cream and adjust the pressure to what feels comfortable. You can ask for more or less pressure at any point.
-
Back to calm
We finish with gentle strokes and give you a moment to get up in your own time.
Options
Relaxing massage
Slow, rhythmic, flowing strokes to help you unwind. Ideal if you want to switch off, sleep better that night or simply give yourself some calm. Available as 30 or 60 minutes.
Deep tissue massage
Firmer pressure and focused work on the areas that feel tight, usually the neck, shoulders and back. It's a wellbeing massage: if your pain is persistent, intense or has a specific cause, we'd recommend seeing a physiotherapist or your doctor.
A wellbeing massage in the heart of Málaga
At Narumi, we see massage for what it is: time for yourself. We don’t promise to fix an injured back or to take on what’s a physiotherapist’s job. What we do promise is a quiet room, skilled hands and someone who asks how you are and shapes the session around it.
Our massage room is the one with the Japanese mural: Mount Fuji, a pagoda and cherry trees in blossom. Narumi is a Japanese name, and that nod to Japan runs through the space without turning it into a theme park. Soft lighting, a pleasant temperature and no rush.
Relaxing or deep tissue: how to decide
The useful question isn’t which one is better, but what you need today.
- If your head is full and you just want to stop, go for the relaxing massage. Long, slow, rhythmic strokes.
- If your shoulders are up round your ears or your back feels tight after days at the computer, choose deep tissue. More pressure, more focused work.
- If you’re not sure, we start gently and increase the pressure where it’s needed. Many sessions end up being a mix of the two.
What we don’t do is treat injuries. Pain that won’t go away, that spreads down your arm or that began after a knock deserves to be looked at by a physiotherapist or your doctor.
30 or 60 minutes
Half an hour is enough to work properly on the back, neck and shoulders, and fits into a lunch break if you work in the centre. The full hour lets us work on the whole body and gives relaxation time to really set in. If it’s your first time, the hour is usually the more rewarding choice.
Combinations that work
Massage pairs beautifully with other treatments at the centre. The Ritual Narumi combines Kobido, the Japanese facial massage, with a 30-minute body massage. Our Beauty Day brings together a facial, pressotherapy and a relaxing massage. And if it’s your legs that feel heaviest, booking a massage and pressotherapy on the same day is a great idea, especially in summer.
If you’re visiting Málaga or looking for a present, a massage also works well as a gift voucher.

What our clients say
Frequently asked questions
Where can I get a massage in Málaga city centre?
At Narumi, Calle Cristo de la Epidemia 33, a few minutes' walk from the historic centre, La Victoria and El Ejido. Massages take place in one of our three treatment rooms, the one with the Japanese mural of Mount Fuji, a pagoda and cherry blossom. Book by WhatsApp or phone on +34 611 500 328. Sessions are in Spanish, but message us on WhatsApp and we'll do our best to help.
How much is a massage at Narumi?
You'll find prices for the 30- and 60-minute massage in the table on this page, along with the Ritual Narumi, which combines Kobido with a 30-minute body massage. If it's a present, you can also book it as a gift voucher, valid for 3 months.
What's the difference between a relaxing and a deep tissue massage?
A relaxing massage uses slow, gentle strokes to help you switch off. A deep tissue massage applies more pressure and focuses on tight areas such as the neck, shoulders and back. If you're not sure, tell us how you're feeling on the day and we'll adapt; we can combine both approaches in the same session.
Should I choose 30 or 60 minutes?
In 30 minutes we can work properly on one area, usually the back, neck and shoulders. With 60 minutes there's time for the full body and a deeper level of relaxation. If it's your first massage with us or you're feeling very tense, the full hour is usually the better choice.
Does a deep tissue massage hurt?
There may be points where you feel intense pressure, but it should always be bearable. We check in with you during the session and adjust. A massage doesn't have to hurt to do you good; if anything feels unpleasant, just say and we'll ease off.
Will it help with a knot or an injury?
Our massages are for wellbeing. They help release everyday tension but don't treat injuries or persistent knots. If you have pain that won't go away, that limits your movement or that started after a knock or fall, please see a physiotherapist or your doctor.
Can I combine a massage with Kobido or pressotherapy?
Yes. The Ritual Narumi pairs a Kobido facial with a 30-minute body massage, and our Beauty Day includes a relaxing massage alongside a facial and pressotherapy. You can also book massage and pressotherapy separately on the same day; we'll sort out the order for you.
Can I give a massage as a gift in Málaga?
Yes. You can give a massage, a ritual or a set amount as a gift voucher, valid for 3 months from purchase. Message us on WhatsApp and we'll help you choose. The person receiving it just needs to book their appointment.
Do you offer couples massages or home visits?
Massages take place at the centre, in a single treatment room. If you'd like to come with someone else on the same day, ask us about availability on WhatsApp and we'll see how to arrange the appointments.
What should I wear, and what oil do you use?
You don't need to bring anything. We give you everything you need to feel comfortable and keep the areas we're not working on covered with towels. We use massage oil or cream; if you have allergies or sensitive skin, let us know before we start.
